Free Shopify SEO checker: see what your product pages are missing
Enter a Shopify store address. The checker reads its public home page and up to 5 product pages, as a search engine would, and shows what is missing or weak: search titles, meta descriptions, product descriptions, image ALT text and structured data. Free, no sign-up, nothing to install.
What the checker looks at
- Search titles: the title tag of the home page and of each product page, as search engines receive it (store name included when your theme adds it). Flagged under 30 or over 65 characters; 30 to 60 is the target.
- Meta descriptions: flagged when missing, under 70 or over 160 characters (120 to 155 is the target), or when they only repeat the start of the product description.
- Product descriptions: at least 40 words of text, enough to answer what shoppers ask.
- Image ALT text: product images whose ALT text is empty, or only a file name such as IMG_2041.jpg.
- Structured data: Product data on product pages, Organization or WebSite data on the home page, in JSON-LD or microdata.
- Indexing: a noindex tag that would keep the home page out of search results, and a main H1 heading.
- llms.txt: a file at the domain root or at the Fexa AI app path. Optional, it is a proposal, not a standard.
How to read the score
Each check counts fully when it is OK, half when it needs improving and nothing when it is missing; the score is the average, out of 100. Issues are flagged at the same thresholds as in the Fexa AI app's own scan.
It is a sample, not a full audit: a store can have a strong home page and weak product pages further down the catalogue, or the other way round. Collections, pages and other languages are not part of the free check.
From the report to the fixes
The Fexa AI app runs the same checks on your whole catalogue, from inside your Shopify admin, and drafts the missing pieces from your own product data: meta descriptions, search titles, product descriptions, image ALT text and FAQs. You review every change before it is applied, and every applied change can be restored.
Questions
Is it really free?
Yes. No sign-up, no email address, nothing to install. To keep it fair for everyone and light on the stores being checked, each visitor can run a limited number of checks per hour.
Does it need access to my Shopify admin?
No. It reads only what any visitor can see: the public home page, product pages and the public product data Shopify serves for them. It never logs in and never changes anything.
Why only five products?
The checker reads a sample, the first products of the public catalogue, so it stays fast and sends only a few requests to the store. The Fexa AI app scans every product, collection and page from inside your Shopify admin.
It says my images have no ALT text, but my theme shows some. Why?
The checker reads the ALT text saved on each image in Shopify. When that field is empty, some themes show the product title instead, so every photo of the product gets the same description. Writing ALT text for each image fixes it.
Can I check a store that is password protected?
No. While a store is behind its password page, its pages are not public: the checker, and search engines, cannot read them.
Is the store I check stored anywhere?
The report is not stored: it is sent to your browser and that is all. The checked store’s domain and your IP address are used in short-lived rate-limit counters, and the domain appears in our server logs. Details in the privacy policy.
Will fixing these issues improve my rankings?
No tool can guarantee rankings. These checks cover the basics search engines and AI assistants read on a product page; fixing them gives your pages a clearer, more complete content, which is what you control.
